Today

Fishing for hearts

I went to the bank today

Red Spot II, Wallisy Kandinsky
To sit and ponder

On how to say
I have need
I am fishing for hearts today
I would rather
Talk of the one I caught
Than
The one that got away
I’m fishing for hearts today

The inspiration for this poem was brought to us courticy of Tess Kincaid of Willow mannor via

  1. hahaha chris, at first i'm thinking, the bank? why fish at the bank?

oh! that BANK! now that i am grounded at the river's edge, i can tell you i like this image of toasting the caught and not the lost.

  7. I LOVE this! On of your best for me with, with it's clarity and heart on the sleeve approach to life. Why not state it as it is? Somebody please love me. Anyone????? Saying we have need is the hardest thing, until it's done. Then it is an orgasmic release....the end of which trails "why haven't I done this before?"

    1. i hope that you catch the perfect one...and its best to focus on the one in hand than the one that got away...some are just not meant to be

    2. Thanks Annie, the prompt had a kind of feel to it that got me thinking of a spanish pesant fisherman, sitting on the bank with his pole deciding that today he was going to stop lamenting his past and search for his future. I know almost none of that is actually in the poem but if you look in the painting you may be able to see what set up that immagry for me...

  19. I would not think the bank was the best place to fish for hearts. Very clever phrasing re 'the one that got away' Well penned (er...typed).

  20. I loved the bauble and bounce of this one! With all those shapes and colours, here's hoping it was a vibrant heart getting reeled in!
