Money tree

We live in a world
Where the all mighty dollar
Drives the bus
What happens when
There’s not enough
Green to go
Around the corner

It’s easy to see
That there is no need
When you have never
Dug behind the seat
To find that last nickel
To buy two hotdogs for a buck
The only meal to be had this week

It’s easy to say
You can make yourself over
In just one day
Lean green money making machine
The American dream
When for you the money did grow
On your family tree

  3. Is that Jason under the money tree? I remember that book from many years ago. Paul Zundel. Or Zindel.

Wish I had a money tree today. :) Or a hotdog.

  4. whassup wander...so true man...and right now it seems that dollar is tight for sure in many places...i know with us we are really having to watch b/c the food prices have gone up so much and we barely make enough to get by as it is...so we do without some things...and for some it is easier to remake themselves but the american way is def limited to a few these days...

  5. Just goes to show that money is nothing to put your faith in.

  8. I think the trick to live in moderation and simply buy what you need. Still sometimes its a challenge to stretch that money ~

  9. Definitely a universally resonating piece, at least for those I know, love the way you moved the piece from start to end, really like the end. Nice job. Thanks

  11. chris, i know a rabbit who says that money is the radish root of all evil.....

i hope you never have to struggle about money again. this kind of scarcity gives you a compassion many people don't have. not that you'd have chosen such a hard lesson, but i think you may end up doing good from it all.

  15. Also...thanks for your thoughts on 'finding that pricing sweet-spot'. It's been great to sift through all the feedback. I'm a collector when it comes to a topic that interests/affects me. I gather thoughts, opinions, facts, and then I stew awhile on it. I've been stewing on this for a few weeks, so it's nice to finally have come to a decision I'm comfortable with.

  16. My husband will appreciate this poem, as he mentions the "landed aristocracy" in his angry moments. A disturbingly great poem, I think. (Will not read your Mag this visit because I have not written one yet....)

  17. i remember going through the car for dimes and nickles at a yard sale 15 years ago. i remember pooling quarters for a Whopper about the same time. i do not remember all of the things i bought with ease in between:)

chris, what you wrote at my place in regards to how you live entered into me and stayed with me. i carry you now like knowledge inside of me. when i feel joy you are there too.
