To you also I give my thanks.

Silhouette

Will he come
To me tonight
I wonder as I silhouette
So lonely
Picture framed by window casings

Will he come
To me tonight
As the shadows go
My longing grows
For his warmth again at my side

Will he come
To me tonight
His shade I seek inside I am weak
From the day on Iwo he did leave
Please lord bring him to me one last time

Thank you to all the men and women that have served for our country in the armed services. As I reflect on the losses some have incurred so that I may have the freedom that I so cherish today, I feel inside a debt of gratitude. To the families of those that have passed and those that will come, to you also I give my thanks.
Please do not take this as a political platform from which to expound on the virtues for or against the need for an armed services. There will be time enough for that on another day.
For today and tomorrow I just wish to say thank you!
.

The image House At Dusk, 1935, was painted by Edward Hopper

I also want to say thank you to Tess from The Mag for the prompt, every week she offers up to us an image from which to create worlds with words. please visit to see what others have left behind on their path through life.

  1. As ex- armed forces myself, I so agree with you on having gratitude for their sacrifices for our freedom.

  6. Beautiful contact with the anima there, Wander. I would like to send the buggers who have fed Gen Y to the slaughter over the last ten years to be put in the front line with a gun in their hands. Thanks.

  11. A side of war and loss we don't look at often; those left behind. I felt it to a degree when my cousins and friends were in Vietnam, but never as much as a wife or mother. Excellent write!

  13. I like what you did with this prompt and where you took it. I looked at the picture and couldn't think of anything nor would I have come up with the subject you did based on it. Nicely done.

I am confused about one line...

From the day on Iwo he did leave

I don't know what this means... are you speaking of Iwo as the place or something else I'm not familiar with?

  16. Maybe I don't belong here. Thought a voice from 'over there' might add perspective. Was in Iraq six years. Now Afghanistan. My colleagues were hit hard couple days ago. Gravity.
