How do I
How
do I stand still
Steeling
my nerves from
This
thing swallowing my soul
Letting
go my control
Not…
Doing
Just…
Breathe
Don’t …
React
Life…
Tumbling
How
can I stand still
When
my stars are falling
And
the walls are tilting in
How
can I stand still
Without…
you

oy, faith and faith only...and hard to do without...we want to hold the walls up even when we know we dont have the strength...
Ha! I'll bet you say that to all the girls...lol.
Have a great Wednesday, Chris!
Nice one Chris.
oh jeez, chris, i hope this is not a current reflection of what's going on with you :^(
i know this only too well and you have done an awesome job, yet again, conveying so much emotion with so few words.
"How can I stand still
When my stars are falling
And the walls are tilting in"
how evocative and lovely.
not the feeling it, just the writing.
i fricking hate heartache, abandonment, betrayal...
love

If yours is the only power holding you still, you can't. If you access all available power from every source in your life it is no longer you holding still but you resting in the larger realm. Then it is not you holding still because it is still true that you can't. Nonetheless the job is done, perhaps even with some grace so long as you remember it wasn't you held still.
The pain in this is expressed beautifully....as only a true poet could do. Wonderful writing Wander! :-)
Standing still only makes us think more and feel the pain more... the only option sometimes seems to be to run... even if it's just around in circles. Nicely written!
As Jira stated, standing still only makes the pain worse. However, if you run, one of the walls might land upon you, and that will hurt even more. I guess sometimes in life, we just have to endure pain rather we like it or not.
I liked this poem.
grrr...grrr! grrr!
yep. :)
Usually it's better to feel pain than to run from it or try to numb it.......
.......The trick is not to hold to pain for a moment longer than necessary.....
And......grief has its own timetable....
.....and. The sun always comes out again
Xoxo
But...I refer to my quote. You don't know self, your fragrance, your essence, until you are crushed. It is then the true self is revealed, experienced, accepted.
If pain is your today, then grab hold of it and wring every lesson there is to be gained from it; if joy, how much sweeter the wringing. Pain, sorrow and loss prime us for greater thanksgiving, deeper appreciation, sweeter joy. ~ Nadja
Interesting structure of this:
Not…
Doing
Just…
Breathe
Don’t …
React
Life…
Tumbling
Sounds like someone talking to himself...talking himself through something, which is what i think you were going for.
I will not comment on whether this is current or not, because I want all to come to it from there own perspective.
Berlinerinpoet...yeah, kind of a stutter step self talk...
thank you all for reading and commenting, I dont have a lot of time at the moment to do a lot of commenting...so thanks!
Even the formatting to this poem was poetic!
Profound words.. Thanks for sharing.
A most profound poem.. Beautiful read that lingers long after you have left the page.
true is..we can't...eh...fine poem and one lesson i'm learning more and more is that we're never independent..even though i would love to be.. fine write wander

wander...i hope today you are feeling better man...praying healing for you surely...and nice one to reprise as well...been great getting to know you this year...and i am excited to have you plugging in at dverse as well...
I love these:
"How do I stand still
Steeling my nerves from
This thing swallowing my soul"
"How can I stand still
When my stars are falling
And the walls are tilting in"
i cannot tell you how GLAD I am love came back into my life! Twenty years I felt like this...twenty years! Oh the damage 'love' can do - I learned...you cannot place everything on someone else. Reading this poem - the feelings so clear, so sharp.
When my stars are falling
And the walls are tilting in
This is the song of the broken-hearted, the star-crossed lover, a song of denial passing for courage. The answer, as I'm sure you have guessed, lie deep inside where your true courage lives. When you love yourself, you don't need anyone else. Well penned words for the sadness that afflicts so many.
I love the format you did with this. It works beautifully. From "Not" on down is my favorite part, but the entire piece is clean, crisp, and not a word or space or capital or punctuation choice has been wasted. Again, a powerful write with very few lines.
