Silhouette
Will he come
To me tonight
I wonder as I silhouette
So lonely
Picture framed by window
casings
Will he come
To me tonight
As the shadows go
My longing grows
For his warmth again at my
side
Will he come
To me tonight
His shade I seek inside I am
weak
From the day on Iwo he did
leave
Please lord bring him to me
one last time

Thank
you to all the men and women that have served for our country in the armed
services. As I reflect on the losses some have incurred so that I may have the
freedom that I so cherish today, I feel inside a debt of gratitude. To the families
of those that have passed and those that will come, to you also I give my
thanks.
Please
do not take this as a political platform from which to expound on the virtues
for or against the need for an armed services. There will be time enough for
that on another day.
For
today and tomorrow I just wish to say thank you!

As ex- armed forces myself, I so agree with you on having gratitude for their sacrifices for our freedom.
A lovely, sad, emotional tribute. Thank you.

Such a touching tribute....

"one last time" ... Nice ending.
Yes, thank you! A lovely and haunting tribute...
Beautiful contact with the anima there, Wander. I would like to send the buggers who have fed Gen Y to the slaughter over the last ten years to be put in the front line with a gun in their hands. Thanks.
it'[s great that you could connect this them to memorial day ;)

beautifully thoughtful tribute...
A side of war and loss we don't look at often; those left behind. I felt it to a degree when my cousins and friends were in Vietnam, but never as much as a wife or mother. Excellent write!
This would be lovely set to music!
I like what you did with this prompt and where you took it. I looked at the picture and couldn't think of anything nor would I have come up with the subject you did based on it. Nicely done.
I am confused about one line...
From the day on Iwo he did leave
I don't know what this means... are you speaking of Iwo as the place or something else I'm not familiar with?
Beautifully said.
A beautiful and timely tribute....love this! :-)
Your words, images and blog reminded me of Van Gogh tonight :)
Maybe I don't belong here. Thought a voice from 'over there' might add perspective. Was in Iraq six years. Now Afghanistan. My colleagues were hit hard couple days ago. Gravity.
We are over 37 nationalities. Not merely American. Every represented nation will experience loss by summers' end. PLeASe hold up those who outlive the fallen. However you choose...remember us
