Oh the glory of battle

Fire reigns

This muddy trench I lay in
Heavenly thunder crashing
Zeus’s lightning flashes
Rains down upon the wicked

This muddy trench I lay in
Slowly fills with the stench, Burnt flesh
Gas filled sky ignites
The thump thump of mortars Run the field
Oh the glory of battle

This muddy trench I lay in
Filled to the brim
Fear and terror reign
Up!
Up to run to the next hump
Not for me to run

For this muddy trench I lay in
Will forever lay in
With the sounds of
Heavenly thunder ringing
Me into eternity

Nice take on the Muse. Personally I always wished mythology was real. I prefer a group of messy gods to one messed up one.

Great emotion in this - and a powerful message.

the crashing thunder signaling you way home from the trench....in all reality out there on the battlefield i imagine some kids think they do think they play among gods..

This muddy trench I lay in... I've done that. Misery.
