The Mag

Withheld

I've been left
behind again
empty inside
it seems now
where did you go
when you found your soul
I didn't know
you had it so
hard here with me
streched so thin you snapped
like a strummed string
off key you ring
through my world
a whirling dervish
smashed it's way through
all of me
how can it be
this dream of you
with out me
withheld I may be
in this the stream
of your time
Leave, I don't care
Been here before
be here again
you may have left
behind me
your residue stayed

Wow! This read like a melodious song. I love the rhythm. xo

Great idea to write this as a response to another post for the Mag. I love it. This is my favorite part:

"streched so thin you snapped
like a strummed string
off key you ring
through my world
a whirling dervish
smashed it's way through
all of me"

That, and the last line about residue. That damn residue. If only it didn't stick so well...if only we could brush it off at will.

that residue left behind is the hardest part... but time erodes it to a more bearable smoothness.

The motion, energy in your poem does remind me of a 'whirling dervish' ~ very nice.

I can feel the loss and sadness in your words here....a wonderful piece of writing for sure.

So many of us saw this woman as crazy but you expressed it best as "snapped like a strummed string".
