Do you
miss me
Can you
see
How your
little boy
Has grown
You left
me behind
When
you went on
Your little
journey
Mother
mother can you see
How your
going
Has left
me
Did you
know
You would
see me breaking
Your monument
and leaving only
Your moniker
Chris

i would like to think that they can see..i hope they can see what we made of ourselves after them...and the influence they had on us...
Such a strong poem...wonderful.
Abandonment breeds anger, how sad. I believe those who've passed are still near, but those who've just left? Without knowing the reasons, hard to judge. But always remember, more their loss, not yours.
In a word, fascinating...
Thought provoking...certainly something we always ponder...do our loved ones still see what they have left behind....I believe they do....great piece Chris! :-)
A most unique response to Tess' challenge. .. I enjoyed this.
As I read this it's ambiguous whether the narrator's mother died or just left. And I think it really works well, as I think children often feel abandoned when a parent dies. You touch some very deep hurt here either way.
Oh how i have wanted to call in an airstrike on my own position ...at mommies graveside
Unexpected twist at the end...nicely done...
The plaintiff first line - nobody could resist reading on. Beautiful.
